About Maisee Soaps

Thanks for checking out my blog on making soap.  This journey began around two years ago when I took a class with a friend.  I purchased health and beauty supplies based on natural ingredients and not tested on animals but it never occurred to me to make my own soap.

The research that followed in soap making opened my eyes to the synthetic ingredients used, even in some of my favorite soaps and hair products that I thought were all natural.  When I read the ingredient list of organic shampoos and conditioners, there's at least twenty ingredients each.  Now I can make my own shampoo bar of soap and hair conditioner with less than ten ingredients.

Using natural ingredients is the first step.  The next step is finding local suppliers.  I've been doing more research on the base ingredients: olive oil, coconut oil and palm oil - none of which are locally produced in the United States.  I received an email from a supplier of canola seed oil that's produced in the U.S. and locally in the state of Washington.  I'm going to give it a try as it should replace olive oil which is the base oil used in most soaps.

Thanks again for following along and I hope the information I provide in this blog is useful.
